Sutri Treasure

Description: The Sutri Treasure is a collection of objects found in a rich grave near the town of Sutri (central Italy). Apart from two small glass amphora from the first or second century, the objects are Lombardic and date to the sixth and seventh centuries. They include a glass drinking horn as well as precious metal items, among them a gold cross, a gilt-silver brooch with garnet and niello inlays, a pair of gold earrings with filigree decoration, and an S-shaped brooch with cloisonné garnet inlays. The grave may have belonged to a noble woman.
