Description:
The column dedicated to Marcus Aurelius (r. 161–80) was part of a temple complex built in his honor after his death. It was roughly the same height as the column built to honor Trajan eighty years earlier, and similarly commemorated the emperor's military campaigns in a continuous spirals of relief carving.
