Gjellestad Ship

Type: Ship burials
Date: End of the seventh to early ninth century
Location or Findspot (Modern-Day Country): Norway
Description: The Gjellestad Ship is a Viking ship burial that was discovered near Jellhaugen (Norway) using georadar in 2018. This ship is currently still underground in a field near several burial mounds. In addition to the ship, there are five longhouses and at least eight grave mounds. One longhouse, measuring 60 × 15 m, is among the largest in Scandinavia. The excavations have not uncovered as many intact objects as in the Oseberg Ship, but among the finds is an unusually large amber bead.
