Description: Fatimid Egypt is known for its lusterware, of which this plate is one example. It may have been made at Fustat, which was an important center of lusterware production. This particular plate has foliate ornament surrounding a bird in the central roundel. The iridescence effect typical of lusterware gives the yellow a more precious, golden appearance.
