Dura-Europos Christian house

Description: The Christian house that contains a baptistery at Dura-Europos, on the Roman-Iranian frontier in what is now Syria, is earliest of its kind. Like the Mithraeum and synagogue, this was a private house at the edge of the city renovated to accommodate specialized religious functions. The baptistery room was decorated in stages, the last around 240.
